RUDOLF STEINER CENTER
As part of the Erasmus+ project “Climate Wise Schools and Students”, participants in the mobility hosted by I. Osnovna Škola Čakovec, Croatia, visited the Dr. Rudolf Steiner Centre in Donji Kraljevec, the birthplace of Rudolf Steiner.
The visit provided students and teachers with an opportunity to explore the relationship between education, nature, agriculture, sustainability and responsible use of natural resources.
The Dr. Rudolf Steiner Centre is a multidisciplinary institution dedicated to promoting knowledge about Rudolf Steiner's ideas and their applications in areas such as education, science, culture, ecology and biodynamic agriculture.
During the visit, participants were introduced to a holistic approach to education and learned about principles of sustainable agriculture and the importance of using natural resources responsibly. The activity encouraged them to reflect on the close relationship between human beings, nature and the environment.
One of the main topics explored was biodynamic agriculture, which places particular emphasis on caring for the soil, protecting biodiversity and developing more sustainable ways of producing food.
This experience was closely connected to the objectives of Climate Wise Schools and Students, particularly our work on climate awareness, environmental protection and sustainable development. It showed participants that sustainability is not only about reducing waste or saving energy, but also about understanding how our choices affect the soil, biodiversity, food production and the ecosystems around us.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discover a different perspective on learning through nature and experience. By connecting educational approaches with environmental awareness, participants could reflect on how schools can help young people develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards the planet.
For the international group, the visit was also a valuable opportunity to share experiences and compare educational approaches between European countries. Learning together in a different cultural and educational environment strengthened cooperation between the partner schools and enriched the Erasmus+ experience.
The Rudolf Steiner Centre reminded us that sustainability begins with our relationship with nature and that education can play an essential role in helping young people understand, value and protect the environment.
Learning from nature. Caring for our planet. Building a sustainable future.
