KNOWLEDGE CENTRE AND SCIENCE PARK
As part of the Erasmus+ project “Climate Wise Schools and Students”, the participants in the mobility hosted by I. Osnovna Škola Čakovec, Croatia, visited the Knowledge Centre and Science Park in Čakovec.
The visit offered students and teachers an opportunity to discover how science, innovation, technology and sustainability can be connected to education and everyday life.
The Knowledge Centre in Čakovec is being developed as a space designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and interest in science. Its educational concept includes areas related to climate change and its impact, everyday science, and the brain and emotions, together with educational laboratories and an outdoor STEAM park.
During the visit, the Erasmus+ participants explored the centre and learned about its educational approach, discovering different ways of making scientific knowledge more practical, interactive and accessible to children and young people.
The activity was particularly relevant to the objectives of Climate Wise Schools and Students, as it showed how scientific education and innovative learning environments can contribute to a better understanding of climate change, environmental challenges and sustainable development.
The visit also encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of combining Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) with active and experiential learning. These approaches can help students become more curious, creative and aware of the challenges facing our planet.
For the international group, the Science Park was not only a place to learn about science, but also an opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another and strengthen the European dimension of the project.
