MUSEUM NIKOLA TESLA
As part of the Erasmus+ project “Climate Wise Schools and Students”, participants in the mobility hosted by I. Osnovna Škola Čakovec, Croatia, visited the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla in Zagreb.
The visit provided students and teachers with an opportunity to explore the development of science, technology and engineering and to discover how technological progress has influenced our society and our relationship with the environment.
The Technical Museum Nikola Tesla is one of Croatia’s main institutions dedicated to the preservation and communication of scientific and technical heritage. Its exhibitions cover a wide range of areas, including energy transformation, transport, mining and geology, agriculture, astronomy and astronautics, firefighting and electricity.
During the visit, participants explored different exhibitions and discovered how scientific knowledge and technological inventions have evolved over time. The museum's interactive and educational approach encouraged students to observe, ask questions and understand scientific concepts through real objects, models and demonstrations.
One of the aspects particularly connected with our Erasmus+ project was the museum's focus on renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. These topics provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the importance of developing cleaner technologies and using energy and natural resources more responsibly.
The visit also introduced participants to the work and inventions of Nikola Tesla through the museum's demonstration cabinet. Tesla's contributions to electricity and technological innovation provided an inspiring example of how scientific curiosity, creativity and experimentation can lead to developments that have a lasting impact on society. The museum regularly uses demonstrations and educational activities to bring scientific knowledge closer to students and the wider public.
This experience was closely connected to the objectives of Climate Wise Schools and Students, particularly our work on climate awareness, renewable energy, technological innovation and sustainable development.
The visit encouraged students to think about the relationship between science, technology and the environment. Understanding how energy is produced and transformed, how transport has developed and how technology can be used to address environmental challenges helps young people become more aware of the choices that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
The museum also demonstrated the value of learning outside the classroom. By experiencing science through exhibitions, demonstrations and practical examples, students were able to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
For the international Erasmus+ group, the visit was another opportunity to learn together, exchange ideas and discover European scientific and technological heritage while strengthening cooperation between the partner schools.
The Technical Museum Nikola Tesla showed us that science and innovation are powerful tools for understanding our world and finding solutions for a more sustainable future.
Exploring science. Inspiring innovation. Creating a sustainable future.
